Terrestris Awarded 7th Prime Contract at US Army War College for Mentor Coaching Pilot Program Support at School of Strategic Landpower

Dumfries, VA September 27, 2024 –

Terrestris is proud to announce its recent award to provide an Executive Mentor Coaching Program (ECP) in support of the Secretary of the Army Directive 2023-09 (Army Coaching Program). This initiative is designed to enhance U.S. Army War College (USAWC) faculty development and support Assessment-Based, Tailored Education (ABTE) for senior service academy students. The program marks a significant step toward expanding the scope and reach of the USAWC’s leadership development efforts. The new pilot program underscores the critical role of coaching as a learning and development tool for Army supervisors, managers, and executives. Terrestris will provide executive coaching expertise to the Resident Education Program (REP) at the USAWC School of Strategic Landpower, refining and integrating the Army’s Executive Mentor Coaching Program into the broader Army Coaching Program (ACP). This effort will be coordinated across USAWC Schools, Centers, Institutes, and Programs (SCIPs) to ensure consistency and alignment with the Army’s long-term coaching vision.

As part of this initiative, Terrestris will guide the integration of coaching programs across Professional Military Education (PME) institutions and ensure alignment with recognized credentialing standards. By fostering a strong coaching culture, Terrestris will help the Army cultivate its next generation of leaders. In collaboration with the ACP, Terrestris is designing a coaching curriculum that adheres to the International Coaching Federation (ICF) credentialing standards. This curriculum trains and certifies both Army personnel and USAWC internal coaches. Our strategic guidance focuses on developing these internal coaches, ensuring compliance with ACP and ICF requirements while enhancing their skills through cohort training opportunities.

Terrestris provides Executive Mentor Coaching services to faculty in training, guiding them through the ICF credentialing process while ensuring they meet professional coaching standards. We offer expertise on coaching standards and ethics, advising USAWC on the appropriate use of certified internal coaches across AWC SCIPs. We successfully deliver executive coaching services to 60-90 students, facilitating their personal and professional development in alignment with their career aspirations.

Terrestris also supports command assessment program selectees and attendees of the pre-command course. We conduct workshops and collaborate closely with elective faculty instructors to enhance learning outcomes, ensuring participants gain the skills necessary for effective leadership. Additionally, we engage with USAWC faculty and staff to assist internal coach trainees in their journey toward ICF credentialing, further strengthening the coaching framework of REP.

We actively participate in faculty meetings to contribute to training and development discussions. By synchronizing written requirements and conducting after-action reviews, we ensure the continuous improvement of USAWC’s REP, elevating the educational experience for both faculty and students.

By aligning our coaching practices with ICF standards and the ACP, we ensure that internal coaches are well-trained and equipped to foster the growth of future leaders. Our initiatives not only enhance the skills of individual coaches but also create a cohesive framework that promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing across USAWC.

Maria DeMicoli, Business Operations Manager of Terrestris, stated: “Our team is honored to manage and lead this important initiative, working closely with the U.S. Army to expand leadership coaching opportunities. The ultimate goal is to establish a curriculum that certifies USAWC faculty and staff as credentialed coaches, building a cadre of certified mentors who can support Army students during pivotal career transitions.”
